Erandathie Damunupola, nee Kiridena was a keen student of art and craft from her younger days. Whilst in school at Methodist College, Colombo 3, she took up art as a subject for her G.C.E ordinary level examination and also represented her school in a number of local and international art competitions, in which she has won many prizes and commendations. After leaving school, Erandathie continued painting as a hobby and further enhanced her reputation as a young artist under the guidance of Mrs. Nadine David.

Under Mrs. David’s tutelage Erandathie has mastered drawing of the Human Figure, landscape, design, still life and color coordination. Her favorite medium is Watercolors, while Acrylics and Oils follow. She loves to use colors in all its subtle variations and shades to bring out the best in a painting. She has excelled in drawing portraits and flowers, which have been widely commended by art lovers who have seen her work.

Erandathie has held two exhibitions with the fellow students in Mrs. David's class. The first exhibition was in March 2003, the second in December 2004. Mrs. David speaking of her student Erandathie, to the Sunday Times Newspaper had this to say about her work.

"Erandathie Kiridena is a gentle painter, like some women painters of the past, such as Berth Morisot. She paints the quiet scenes around her, a perfect flower study, a wideeyed child, portraits of women, and a moangosteen still-life. Every painting is precisely arranged in delicate colour."

Erandathie held a solo exhibition of her paintings at the University of Colombo while an undergraduate there, in June 2003. Her crowning glory was to be adjudged 1st at the Arts festival held by the University Of Colombo in 2002 and the most recent achievement is obtaining an "A" grade for the Arts & Design paper at the 2006/2007 Edexcel London Examination.
